In the spirit of the new year and resolving to eat healthier and to do business better, Net Impact Silicon Valley and Net Impact Santa Clara University invite you to network with other Silicon Valley professionals and talk about a subject we all know and love: food.

After getting acquainted with fellow Net Impact members, panelists will talk to you about where your food comes from, what it means to be a "locavore," why organics cost more than "regular" grocery and what food entrepreneurs are doing combine triple-bottom line strategy with business. You'll see that economics and responsible food entrepreneurship is intertwined!

Come in and keep up with current trends in the food industry and find out how it relates to your life and/or your business!

Bonnie Azab Powell, Ethicurean.com

Local freelance food and tech writer founded Ethicurean.com in 2006 with a few friends to raise awareness about sustainable, organic, local, and ethical (SOLE) food. Bonnie is also the deputy editor of Edible San Francisco and has started and run two meat Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.

Sarah Klein, Local Foods Wheel (www.localfoodswheel.com)
Sarah is the illustrator and collaborator on the Local Foods Wheel currently available in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York Metro Area. The wheel is a fun and functional tool to help people discover what food is in season at different times of the year.  Sarah is an artist and educator who incorporates her creative work with her culinary interests. Many of her hand-drawn animations, books and videos depict themes related to the home and culinary traditions (www.sarahklein.com).

Laura Stec, Entrepreneur (www.laurastec.com)
Laura Stec is an author and chef, trained at the Culinary Institute of America, The School of Natural Cookery and The Vega Macrobiotic Study Center. She worked at Seva, Ann Arbor, MI, Spoons, Arcata, CA, and San Francisco Bay Area’s Left Bank and Flea Street Café before starting her own private chef/catering business - Laura Stec - Innovative Cuisine, working for clients such as Google, Harvard University, Environmental Defense Fund, and Sheldon Whitehouse for Senate. Stec is Culinary Health Educator for Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers, former chef for Kaiser's organic farmer's market, and consulting chef at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California - Sunnyvale.
